When a teacher assigns a biography as a writing assignment, the purpose is to have a student utilize multiple research tools to gather and to synthesize information that may be used as evidence in a written report about an individual.Students have written an informative essay about a famous person for the Biography Tea. They were assessed on skills that were the focus of the writing lessons. I used a rubric to grade them on content, organization, sentence fluency, grammar, and conventions. This focus on content was the presence of a main idea and supporting details.Is your essay well-organized? Does your beginning paragraph draw the reader in?
